Built to Build
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The West & Wilkinson Merchant Association (WWMA), in partnership with the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition (WBNC), will welcome Tulsa historian and educator Kode Ransom to Charlotte for events connecting the legacy of Black Wall Street to the future of businesses and neighborhoods along West and Wilkinson boulevards. The series includes a hands-on business workshop on October 23 and a free community presentation during Legacy Fest on October 24. Together, the events explore entrepreneurship, resilience and the collective power of communities to build lasting opportunity. Ransom, whose work centers on Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District, will bring the story of Black Wall Street into a conversation about Charlotte’s west side: what communities build, how they persevere and how that history can inform their next chapter.
