ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. – The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received a report about alleged child abuse on October 10, 2026. The alleged incident occurred at Mt. Bethel Methodist Church Child Development Center in Bethlehem.
Deputies arrested and charged a child development center employee after an investigation.
Holly Payne, 36, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a child under 12. Payne was being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under a $10,000 a secured bond until she was released on bond.
