WCCB Exclusive: Inside look at Flexential data center in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte City Council is expected to vote Monday on whether to extend its moratorium on new data center development. The pause comes amid concerns over electricity demand, water usage and neighborhood impacts.

WCCB Charlotte got an exclusive look inside Flexential’s north Charlotte data center, where we asked company executive Jacob Horr about the city’s approach. Horr says, “Yeah, I think they’re they’re asking the right questions, right? Power, water usage, how are we impacting the natural resources? And you know, the, I think the most important thing is that that we look at you know the facts around data centers as I mentioned earlier not all data centers are created equal.”

The current moratorium is set to expire November 5th, unless city council votes to extend it.
