CHARLOTTE, NC — The family of Keith Scott announced Wednesday they have filed a lawsuit against the City of Charlotte and CMPD Officer Brentley Vinson.
Scott was shot and killed by Officer Vinson in September 2016 during an incident at an apartment complex in north Charlotte.
According to the lawsuit, the family is making several allegations against the City and the CMPD officer including wrongful death, the use of excessive force and negligence.
The City of Charlotte released the following statement regarding the filing:
“The filing of the lawsuit is not unexpected. We will respond to the allegations through the judicial process.”
