CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Novant Health and Girl Talk Foundation, Inc. are partnering to host a free workshop for mothers and daughters focusing on health and wellness.
The workshop will be held Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Girl Scouts Nest Council on Idlewild Road in Charlotte.
Guests will receive information on Diabetes awareness for women of color and food awareness for girls. There will be a mock shopping experience, fitness activity and healthy eating activity.
The event is free and includes breakfast snacks, lunch, and swag bags. One hundred and fifty girls and moms are expected to attend as well as medical professionals and volunteers.
The series hopes to address awareness regarding health disparities in Charlotte based on race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and gender.
The workshop is also a partnership with American Heart Association, Women+Girls Research Alliance, Girl Scouts Hornets Nest, EmpowHERment, Circle de Luz, Remnant Fitness, and Soy Latino como tu.
