NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators have hired Peter Laviolette as their new coach, making him only the second head coach in the franchise’s history. The Predators announced the move Tuesday. Kevin McCarthy also has been hired as an assistant coach.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Former San Francisco point guard Avry Holmes has transferred to Clemson. The school announced that Holmes had signed with the Tigers this week. Holmes is a 6-foot-2 guard from Salem, Oregon, who played two seasons with the Dons. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility left after sitting out next season because of NCAA transfer rules.
