Charlotte-Douglas to Remain Open During Florence

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Douglas Airport says it will be open through the weekend, but some flights may be cancelled or delayed.

Workers have been preparing the airport for severe weather, cleaning up debris and preparing one runway designed for strong cross winds.

Many passengers took advantage of American’s offer to rebook flights for no extra fee.

“Luckily everything is on time,” said traveler Soledad Castello. “I’m surprised to see this empty airport for the first time in my life here; it’s like a real surprise.”
