CHARLOTTE, NC – A portion of Idlewild Road that crosses Independence Boulevard in East Charlotte will be closed until October 2016.
Construction is beginning on an overpass that will take Idlewild over the $51 Million Independence Freeway project.
The road closure was set to start Sunday but is now being delayed until Tuesday.

Idlewild Road will be closed between Monore Road and Electra Avenue.

For the next two years, drivers will be detoured along Conference Drive where a new overpass will be opening.
