Police Identify Victim Shot And Killed In University Area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD has identified the man who was shot and killed in north Charlotte late Tuesday.

Officers were called around 9 p.m. to the 6700 block of North Tryon St. in the University area where a suspect reportedly approached the victim, 27-year-old Demetrius Thomas, shot him and left.

Medic pronounced Thomas dead on scene. His family has been notified of his death.

Police say Thomas was standing outside of a business in a shopping center when he was shot.

Police say they do not know what led to the shooting, but they are questioning witnesses in the area.

No arrests have been made at this time.
