Β INDIAN TRAIL, NC — A high school teacher in Union County will face a judge Friday on charges she had sex with a student. Β
Jessica Deck remains locked up in the Union County jail tonight on $5,000 bond. Β The 28-year-old teaches chemistry and physics at Sun Valley High School in Indian Trail. Β Sheriff Eddie Cathey tells WCCB Charlotte that the student is a football player. Β Deck has worked at Sun Valley since August of 2012.
“That there would be a teacher that would allow something like this to happen is very unfortunate,” said Captain Ronnie Whitaker of the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
A Union County Public Schools spokesperson tells WCCB that Deck is suspended with pay.
