ALBEMARLE, NC — A man wanted in connection to a violent assault and kidnapping Monday night has been arrested.
Police say 47-year-old Jamie Hinson was arrested Tuesday and charged with Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Identity Theft.
Around 10pm on October, 22nd, Hinson reportedly knocked the victim to the ground after striking her in the head with the blunt end of an ax handle, and then strangled her while threatening to take her life.
Investigators say Hinson then forced the victim into a vehicle and drove to a nearby ATM where he pulled money from her account.
The victim finally managed to get help, police say, after Hinson drove them to Rowan County and ran out of gas. Hinson reportedly walked away from the vehicle in one direction, and she went the other.
Police say the victim was later picked up and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Hinson has been placed under a $500,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29th.
