Machete Wielding Suspect Tased By Police In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they had to use a Taser on someone who was armed with a machete in east Charlotte Tuesday morning.

Officers were called to an assault with a deadly weapon call on Albemarle Road around 9:30am, according to a news release.  When officers arrived on the scene they say the subject was armed with a machete and refused to drop the weapon.

A short time later a Taser was deployed by an officer.  The armed subject was taken into custody without further incident and then evaluated by MEDIC.  Police say no bystanders or officers were injured in the encounter.
