LANCASTER, SC — The death of a 1-year-old boy is under investigation after authorities say he died at the hospital late Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a home on 14th Street around 5:30pm in reference to an unresponsive child. The father was reportedly carrying the child out of the home when deputies arrived.
After trying to render aid, officials say the child was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital by EMS where he died about an hour later. Investigators are now trying to determine what led to the child’s death.
Deputies reportedly executed a search warrant at the home following the death. According to investigators, the home was occupied by the child’s father, the father’s girlfriend and two other toddlers.
