CMPD Makes 2 Arrests In Series Of Armed Robberies

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have arrested two suspects accused of carrying out multiple armed robberies Tuesday evening.

CMPD says Timothy Whiteside, 46, and Veronica Crawford, 42, were arrested shortly after midnight on Wednesday following a brief vehicle pursuit in north Charlotte that ended when they collided with another vehicle. The suspects were driving a vehicle that matched the description of one used in several armed robberies just hours before, investigators say.

According to authorities, Whiteside and Crawford are responsible for the following armed robberies, which all occurred on November 6th:

  • 6:48pm
    • S. College Street: Police say a female victim was told to get in the suspect vehicle at gunpoint. She refused, according to the report, and the suspects took off.
  • 8:59pm
    • Central Avenue: A woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint. The suspects reportedly took the victim’s purse and cell phone before taking off.
  • 9:58pm
    • Commonwealth Avenue and The Plaza: Police say a man was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects while sitting in his vehicle.
  • 10:34pm
    • East Boulevard: A woman was reportedly robbed of her vehicle at gunpoint. Police say the vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.

Police say Whiteside and Crawford were also responsible for two additional robberies that occurred on October 27 at Hemphill Street and on October 31 at Reid Avenue. Investigators are reviewing similar cases to determine if the pair was responsible for any other crimes. Additional charges may be filed.
