Statesville Daycare Worker Fired After Allegedly Assaulting Toddler

STATESVILLE, NC — An Iredell County daycare worker has been charged with assaulting a child. The incident was reported on Tuesday, according to police, and involved a 22-month-old boy.

The child’s mother says she picked him up from Future Generations Child Development Center on Buffalo Shoals Road and noticed he wasn’t acting right.

When she got home, the mother says she examined her child and found the injuries on his leg.

Police reportedly reviewed surveillance video from the daycare and determined Lori Turner was the suspect. Turner was arrested Thursday night, police say, and charged with Assault on a Child under 12.

The daycare center says Turner has been fired.
