Police: Arrest Made In West Charlotte Homicide Involving 56-Year-Old Man

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is facing charges after police found another man dead in a West Charlotte home early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called around 1 a.m. to the 1300 block of Tinnin Avenue where they found 56-year-old Brian Scott Carriker dead. They say Carriker suffered from “obvious trauma”.

Police have charged 47-year-old Carlton Hancock with the murder of Carriker.

VCAT detectives, alongside Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department and the NC SBI, arrested Hancock and transported him to CMPD headquarters.

Hancock was charged with murder, assault by strangulation, robbery with a dangerous weapon and motor vehicle theft. He was then sent to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Carriker’s family has been notified of his death.
