Suspect Wanted After String Of Belmont Business Break-Ins

BELMONT, NC — Police are looking for a teen they say broke into several businesses throughout the area.

Around 3:20am on Tuesday, police say someone through a rock through the front door glass of the Papa John’s and New China restaurants on Wilkinson Boulevard. The suspect reportedly tried to steal money from the registers, but was not successful.

The teen suspected of these crimes has been identified as 17-year-old Douglas Mobley. According to the Mecklenburg County Jail’s website, Mobley has been arrested eight times since last year.

Police say Mobley may also be connected to three other break-ins that took place on November 14 at The String Bean, Johnny B’s Pizza and Sake Express.

He is wanted on charges of Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Injury to Real Property and Injury to Personal Property.
