CLEVELAND COUNTY, NC — A 35-year-old man is facing murder charges after authorities arrested him Thursday at an apartment complex in Charlotte.
Cordell Yates was arrested at the Woodfield Garden Apartment Complex on Village Green Drive in Charlotte after spending several months on the run from investigators. Yates is accused of murdering his brother, Anthony Charles, on September 1st.
When authorities confronted Yates at the complex on Thursday, officials say he jumped off of the third floor balcony to try and escape. He was quickly arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
After his release later that evening, officials say Yates was charged with First Degree Murder. He is being held without bond at the Cleveland County Detention Center.
