CATAWBA COUNTY, NC — A man was arrested Monday morning after he reportedly led authorities on a multi-county pursuit that ended in a vehicle crash.

The suspect, Benjamin McCann, was spotted around 9:45am in a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Conover, according to Catawba County deputies. McCann led authorities on a pursuit through Catawba and Burke Counties, deputies say, before crashing on Highway 10 West in Newton.

McCann was quickly taken into custody without further incident.

Catawba County deputies have charged him with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Flee in Motor Vehicle to Elude Arrest, and Injury to Personal Property.

In addition to those charges, the North Carolina Highway Patrol has also charged McCann with DWI and two counts of Reckless Driving to Endanger in connection to the accident.

He is being held under a $36,500 bond.
