CHARLOTTE, NC — Grocery stores were swarmed with shoppers preparing to be iced in Monday. Β We found bread and milk picked pretty clean at the Food Lion on Park Road. Β Most people were able to stock up on necessities to tide them over for a few days.

“I got pretty much everything I needed except food, but now I’m good,” said Charlotte resident Chris Hobbs. Β “The only thing that was… I think I got the last thing of chicken breasts, but other than that, everything was pretty much in stock for me.”

Many people are hoping we don’t see a repeat of the ice storm that crippled Charlotte back in December of 2002. Β A half an inch of ice coated Charlotte. Β More than 285,000 Duke Energy customers lost power, and some neighborhoods were in the dark for more than a week.
