
CHARLOTTE, NC– An elderly couple died in a early morning house fire Saturday in East Charlotte.
Firefighters responded to the house fire on Tom Hunter Road around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. They found Nellie Davis, 74, and Lonnie Davis Jr, 73, unresponsive inside the house and they were pronounced dead on the scene.
The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force says an electrical malfunction caused the house fire.
It took 27 firefighters 27 minutes to control the fire. The fire caused approximately $25,000 in damages.
