Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu wins Symetra Tour event

GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) — Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu won the Symetra Tour’s Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic on Sunday, closing with an eagle for a 4-under 68 and a five-stroke victory.

The 19-year-old Hsu had an 8-under 280 total at The Links at Stoney Point and earned $30,000 to jump from 81st to fourth on the money list with $31,810. The final top 10 will earn 2015 LPGA Tour cards.

Hsu won the Credit Union Challenge last year in Albany, New York, and finished 15th on the money list.

Spain’s Marta Silva, France’s Joanna Klatten and South Korea’s Min Seo Kwak tied for second. Silva and Klatten shot 71, and Kwak had a 72. Kwak won the Patty Berg Memorial last week in Florida.

Gattis, Heyward HRs give Braves 5-2 win over Cubs

ATLANTA (AP) — Evan Gattis hit a tiebreaking homer, Jason Heyward added a two-run shot and the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 5-2 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

Gattis gave Atlanta a 3-2 lead with his homer off Edwin Jackson in the fourth inning. Heyward added to the lead with his first home run since April 9, a seventh-inning drive off James Russell that landed in the Braves’ bullpen beyond the right-field wall.

Aaron Harang (4-3) gave up two runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He had nine strikeouts. He is one win shy of matching his 2013 total in 26 starts combined with Seattle and the Mets.

Jackson (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in six innings.

Bethune-Cookman sweeps PGA Minority Collegiate

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Bethune-Cookman swept the men’s and women’s titles for the second straight year Sunday in the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.

Bethune-Cookman won its seventh title in the Division I men’s competition and its tournament-record 11th in the women’s division, completing a sweep for the fourth time in the 54-hole event.

The women’s team, tied with Chicago State after two rounds, had a 4-over 292 total in the finale on PGA Golf Club’s Ryder Course to win by six strokes. Chicago State was second, followed by Houston-Victoria. Heather Shake of the Houston-Victoria had three straight 74s to take medalist honors in the team division.

In the men’s tournament, Bethune-Cookman beat Florida A&M by eight strokes on the Wanamaker Course. Alabama State University was third, 11 strokes back of Bethune-Cookman.

Rafael Abad led Bethune Cookman, closing with a 1-under 71 for a 2-over 218 total.

Imagining wins Belmont’s Man o’ War Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Imagining led all the way Sunday in the $400,000 Man o’ War, giving Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey his third straight victory in the turf stakes at Belmont Park.

McGaughey previously took the 1 3/8-mile race with Point of Entry (2012) and Boisterous (2013). The trio were owned and bred by the Phipps Stable.

Joel Rosario sent the 6-year-old to the front and they controlled the pace over the course rated good. Real Solution rallied three wide to take aim at the leader, but the bid fell short by three-quarters of a length.

The time was 2:14.33.

Imagining paid $8.50, $4.50 and $2.90. Real Solution returned $5 and $3.50, and Grandeur paid $4 to show.
