Law Enforcement Investigating Multiple Bomb Threats Across Country, Including 16 In Charlotte Area

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after multiple bomb threats were reported Thursday afternoon across the city. So far, police say none of the threats have been substantiated.

According to CMPD, threats were made at 16 locations across the Charlotte area between 1:37pm and 3:53pm. Investigators say no suspicious packages or devices were found at any of the locations.

The locations that received threats include:

  • 225 West Martin Luther King Boulevard
  • 215 North Pine Street
  • 1300 Baxter Street
  • 601 East 5th Street
  • 300 South Tryon Street
  • 3314 Rainbow Circle
  • 3110 Cullman Avenue
  • 4428 Taggart Creek Road
  • 1355 Continental Boulevard
  • 10100 Ballantyne Commons Parkway
  • 230 North College Street
  • 2200 Coronation Boulevard
  • 305 Doggett Street
  • 930 Culp Road
  • 3735 Glen Lake Road
  • 13410 South Ridge Road

The threats are not just in Charlotte either. Similar incidents have been reported at universities, businesses, schools, media outlets and more in cities all across the country.

NYPD posted a message to Twitter saying an email regarding a bomb threat is being circulated and is asking for Bitcoin as payment.

In York County, the Sheriff’s Office says they have given the all clear to threats off of Public Works Drive in York and Market Street in Fort Mill. Another threat is still being investigated off of Springhill Farm Road in Fort Mill.

Boone Police say they’re also investigating a threat.

The FBI is reportedly assisting with the investigations. At this time, the incidents are believed to be part of a nationwide hoax.
