Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to Close on Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed for students on Wednesday, Feb. 18, because of the winter storm. The district has designated the day as a Code A, meaning employees will report to work from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., if they are able to travel safely. CMS staff members are working with city and county leaders to receive the most up-to-date information about road and weather conditions.

March 13, a teacher workday, will be the make-up day for students and schools on the traditional calendar.

The After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP) will also be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All after-school, Community Use of Schools and athletic activities are canceled.

Project LIFT schools on the Continuous Learning Calendar will make up days on a separate schedule. The make-up day for Bruns Academy, Walter G. Byers, Druid Hills Academy and Thomasboro Academy is April 17, during program intercession.

CMS staff will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the evening and tomorrow. We will communicate any information about Thursday, Feb. 19tomorrow.
