Winter Storm Leaves 2,000 Stranded at Charlotte-Douglas

CHARLOTTE, NC — Another difficult day for travelers at Charlotte-Douglas, with 194 cancellations and 159 delayed flights. Β Extra crews have been working throughout the day to de-ice planes and runways.
About 2,000 passengers slept in the terminal Monday night. Β Airport staff gave them cots and mats and kept concessions open.
“I’ve read two books, and I did some crocheting. Β Been sitting here. Β This is what I’ve been doing,” said Heather Huard of New Hampshire.
“Trying to sleep, trying to stay warm. Β Just trying to get food,” said Montreal resident Gary Mollins.
