CHARLOTTE, NC– On Saturday, officers were reportedly dispatched to S. Tryon Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located Breondra Rychelle Newman, 22, lying in the right northbound lane of S. Tryon St.
Newman was pronounced deceased on the scene by Medic.
Members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit, DWI Task Force were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. The initial investigation showed Ms. Newman was standing in the right northbound lane of S. Tryon St when she was struck by two vehicles.
Witnesses statements and evidence indicate that Newman may have been impaired prior to being struck.
