LOS ANGELES, CA — In response to Don Sterling’s apology over racist comments, the new Los Angeles Clippers CEO says it’s too little, too late. In an interview with Anderson Cooper, the Clippers owner said he was sorry for the comments, but felt “baited” into saying them. The 80-year-old says he thinks V. Stiviano, his rumoured girlfriend, set him up.
“When I listen to that tape, I don’t even know how I can say those words like that,” he said. “I’m so sorry. I’m so apologetic.”
The apology comes neraly two weeks after the NBA fined him and banned him from the organization for life. Sterling told Cooper if the NBA owners force him to sell the team, he won’t fight them.
