Winter Weather Advisory for Many Overnight

Today will mark another chill day with highs only reaching the mid 40s under sunny skies. Overnight temperatures will hover around freezing. A light shower and even freezing rain will be possible, making things a little icy for the Wednesday commute. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Ashe, Watauga, Burke, Caldwell, Alexander, Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston, Iredell, Cleveland and Rowan counties from midnight through noon on Wednesday in preparation for a light icing. Showers will pick up throughout the day on Wednesday with a steady rain likely Wednesday night into Thursday. Temps will be in the mid to upper 50s. Colder air wraps in behind the rain with below average temps for the weekend.
