
MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Memphis police say that a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a police officer.
Memphis Police Department spokeswoman Karen Rudolph told The Associated Press that a person is in custody but no charges have been filed.
She says the investigation is ongoing and did not give further details.
Police have been searching for a suspect in the killing of Officer Sean Bolton late Saturday during a traffic stop.
Bolton was shot near one of the main arteries in a working class neighborhood of southeast Memphis.
Police are looking for potential witnesses and are asking for members of the public who have information about the suspect to come forward.
