KANNAPOLIS, NC — Investigators say electrical issues may be to blame for a fire that ripped through a home early Tuesday afternoon.

The fire happened around 1pm at a home on North Juniper Street. Fire officials say heavy smoke and flames were coming from the home when crews arrived.
A dog was reportedly trapped inside at the time of the fires, but officials say crews were able to rescue the pooch and get it to safety.
Officials say a person was also at the home and is being treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Investigators say the fire appears to have been electrical in nature, but the investigation is ongoing. Damage to the home is “significant.”
