NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE

Pacers look to clinch

UNDATED (AP) — Indiana can close out Washington with a win in the fifth game of their NBA playoff series tonight. The Pacers top the Wizards 3-1 after Sunday’s 95-92 victory in Washington. This evening’s contest is being played in Indianapolis, with Game 6, if needed, set for Washington Thursday night.

Tonight’s other NBA playoff game has Oklahoma City playing host to the Los Angeles Clippers. That best of seven series is tied at 2-2 after L.A.’s 101-99 victory Sunday on the Clippers’ home court. Following tonight’s Game 5, the series shifts back to L.A. for Game 6 Thursday night.

NHL PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE

Pens and Blackhawks hope to advance

UNDATED (AP) — The decisive seventh game of the Pittsburgh-New York Eastern Conference NHL semifinal is being played tonight on the Penguins’ home ice. The Rangers have held off elimination in two straight games as they trailed the Pens 3-1 in the series before winning the last two contests. Pittsburgh is 0-2 in its last two Game 7’s. The Rangers are 3-0 in elimination games this season and 9-2 in their last 11 potential elimination games. New York has never won a best of seven series after trailing 3-1.

The Chicago Blackhawks can earn a spot in the Western Conference final with a win tonight over the Wild in St. Paul., Minn. The Blackhawks top the Wild 3-2 after winning the fifth game Sunday 2-1. Should a seventh game be called for, it will take place in Chicago Thursday night. Since 2009 the Blackhawks are 11-2 in games with an opportunity to clinch a series. Chicago is also 13-0 over the same time span in the fifth and sixth games of series that were tied 2-2.

Wainwright looks for No. 7

UNDATED (AP) — Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals can become the National League’s first seven-game winner of the season tonight. He and his St. Louis teammates are home to the Cubs this evening in an NL Central Division game. Wainwright is 6-2 with a 2.02 earned run average.

The Athletics have the longest winning streak in baseball as Oakland has won its last five games. Tonight the A’s are home to the White Sox, who have lost three straight. The longest current losing streak is four, as held by Miami. The Marlins look to get back in the win column with a game tonight in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

In other games tonight, the Mets and Yankees square off in Yankee Stadium in the second game of their four game series. The Mets won the opener last night 9-7. The Tigers are in Baltimore one night after beating the O’s 4-1. The Phillies are hosting the Angels, the Indians open up a series with the Blues Jays in Cleveland and San Diego is in Cincinnati. The Twins are hosting the Red Sox, Colorado is at Kansas City, Houston is home to Texas and the Pirates are playing the Brewers in Milwaukee. Washington is playing at Arizona, Seattle is entertaining the Rays and the Braves are playing the Giants in San Francisco.
