Universal Commits To Hire More Female Directors
Universal Studios is now on board to increase the number of female directors in Hollywood. The studio is promising to work with a least one female director in the next 18 months as part of the 4% Challenge. The Time’s Up initiative announced the new challenge last week at the Sundance Film Festival.
The group found that only 4% of the top 1,200 highest earning studio films were directed by women. Several stars including Tessa Thompson, Kerry Washington and Amy Schumer are also on board.
What can they do with t his momentum and do you think other studios will follow?
