Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Catawba County Assault

CATAWBA COUNTY, NC — A man is facing several charges, including Attempted Murder after authorities say he assaulted two people early Friday morning.

De Andre Mack was arrested just before noon after deputies identified him as the suspect in several early morning assaults.

Around 7:39am, deputies say they were called to the Crosstown Apartments off of County Home Road when someone reported a man assaulting a woman on the ground outside. Deputies say another family member was also found inside the home suffering from assault related injuries.

The victim outside was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center with potential life threatening injuries, according to officials.

Mack reportedly knew the victim and was identified as the suspect. He was later located in the area of Raleigh Street off of Springs Road and taken into custody.

Mack has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, 1st Degree Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, Felonious Strangulation, Assault on a Female.

Deputies say Mack assaulted the same victim on Thursday in Alexander County and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for that crime.
