Two Arrested For Series Of Charlotte Business Armed Robberies
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies over the last two weeks in Charlotte.
The suspects were charged for their involvement in the following cases:
- January 16, 2019, 11:25 a.m. : A suspect perused the aisle of the Payless Shoes located at 3124 Eastway Drive in the Eastway Division. The suspect approached an employee, demanding money from the cash register and to open the safe.
- January 17, 2019, 2:11 p.m. : A suspect entered the GameStop located at 4704 South Boulevard in the Westover Division. The suspect initially went towards the back of the store, but then approached the front register. The suspect displayed a firearm and pointed it at an employee while demanding money be placed in a bag.
- January 19, 2019, 6:55p.m. : A suspect entered the Family Dollar located at 4736 South Boulevard in the Westover Division. The suspect approached the register with store merchandise and then pointed a firearm at an employee while demanding money be placed into a bag. The suspect began exiting the store, but ordered the employee and another victim to go to the back of the store before he left.
- January 22, 2019, 5:41 p.m. : A suspect entered the Subway located at 410 Westinghouse Boulevard in the Steele Creek Division. The suspect ordered a sandwich, and when payment was requested the suspect displayed a firearm from his jacket and demanded money.
- January 24, 2019, 7:10 p.m. : A suspect entered the Subway located at 624 Tyvola Road in the Steele Creek Division. The suspect ordered a sandwich, and when payment was requested the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded the register be opened and the money be placed in a bag.
- January 26, 2019, 4:12 p.m. : A suspect entered the Metro PCS located at 2621 Westerly Hills Drive in the Freedom Division. The suspect approached the sales counter and requested to check his account. The suspect then displayed a firearm and demanded money from the register be placed in a bag.
- January 30, 2019, 4:54 p.m. : A suspect entered the Family Dollar located at 1560 West Boulevard in the Westover Division. The suspect approached the counter while holding a firearm and demanded money be put into a bag. The suspect then ordered two employees to the back of the business and into the stock room before he left.
Detectives analyzed evidence from the armed robbery investigations and were able to identify a suspect vehicle. On January 31st, 2019, officers located the suspect vehicle and were able to arrest the suspects without incident.
Quanterious Whatley, 27, has been charged with seven counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Tyrek Hendrix, 18, has been charged with one count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
