LANDIS, NC — Landis Town Manager, Reed Linn and Town Finance Officer, Ginger Gibson have resigned due to an investigation into possible crimes involving town finances.
The resignations were announced Thursday and are effective immediately.
According to a release, the Landis Police Department was directed by Mayor Mike Mahaley and members of the Landis Board of Alderman to investigate several allegations involving town finances. Officials say it did not take long for police to find “substantial” evidence of possible criminal activity.
The Rowan County District Attorney requested an independent criminal investigation to be conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation. That investigation is currently underway.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
