Medical Examiner Releases Autopsy Results From 13-Year-Old Hania Aguilar

CHARLOTTE, NC — The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner released autopsy results Wednesday for 13-year-old Hania Aguilar.

According to the report, Hania died as a result of “homicidal violence” but a cause of death could not be conclusively determined due to her body’s state of decomposition.Β Hania’s body did however, have signs of sexual assault.

The autopsy found Hania likely died from asphyxiation, butΒ there was insufficient evidence of trauma, toxicology or natural disease to support any other definitive cause of death.

Dental records were later used to make a positive identification.
