Detectives have charged 32-year-old Nicholas Beatty with the February 17th, 2019 murder of 28-year-old Ervin Kenneth Steward.
On March 7th, 2019, Beatty was located by police in Durham, North Carolina, where he was interviewed and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed in south Charlotte Sunday morning.
At about 1:39 a.m. on Sunday morning, CMPD officers responded to a call for service at a parking lot located in the 5400 block of Seventy Seven Center Drive.
Officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation determined that the shooting actually occurred in a parking lot located at 501 Minuet Lane, near Club Onyx.
Witnesses drove the victim a few blocks away to the parking lot where police located them.
The case is under investigation and detectives are interviewing witnesses. Further information will be released as it develops.
