I-485 Reopens Following Deadly Accident

CHARLOTTE, NC — A portion of the I-485 outer loop has reopened following a deadly accident Friday evening.

The accident happened around 5:45pm near the W.T. Harris Boulevard exit. Troopers with the NCSHP say a man driving a Ford Explorer failed to notice slowing traffic and rear-ended a small Nissan car.

The impact reportedly sent the Nissan into the vehicle in front of it. Troopers say the Nissan’s driver was killed by the impact.

Officials have not yet released the victim’s name, or said whether the driver of the Explorer will face charges.

This is an ongoing investigation.
