Mooresville Man Charged With Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle

MOORESVILLE, NC–Deputies say they arrested a man after he reportedly broke into a car and then was seen walking down the street, talking to himself, and carrying a hatchet.

When the deputies arrived on scene on Eastport Lane they located Christopher Preston Staton standing in his neighbor’s yard behind a Ford Mustang.

After speaking with the victim and a witness, it was determined Staton was attempting to steal the Ford Mustang, according to a news release.

The witness in this incident told deputies they initially located Staton inside the Ford Mustang.

When Staton was asked about this information, he reportedly told deputies he would take the vehicle with or without the owner’s permission.

Staton was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with one count of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle.
