A Lincoln County woman has been charged with felony child abuse in connection with a lawn mower accident that seriously injured her 8-year-old son.
Ashley Holt, 27, of Clark’s Creek Road in Lincolnton was arrested on April 1st and charged with one felony count of negligent child abuse with serious bodily injury. She was released after posting a $2,500 secured bond, according to a news release.
Deputies say the child is still recovering at a hospital in Charlotte after undergoing surgery for his injuries.

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC — An 8-year-old boy was severely injured Tuesday after officials say he fell from a zero turn mower while riding with a parent.
The parent was reportedly cutting grass at their Clark Creek Road home around 5:15pm when the incident occurred. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says the boy was sitting on the deck of the mower while another child was sitting in the parent’s lap.
Deputies say she stopped the mower but failed to disengage the blades. The 8-year-old reportedly fell from the deck and was hit by the blades on his left leg and both arms.
He was airlifted to Atrium Health in Charlotte and is undergoing surgery for his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
