Stolen Vehicle Case Results In Drug Bust, Two Arrests
CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged two suspects after a License Plate Reader (LPR) hit on a stolen vehicle led officers to an alleged drug deal in northwest Charlotte.
Cameron Torrence, 24, and Javiere Green, 19, have each been charged in connection to the case.
Police began tracking a stolen white 2018 Nissan Altima on Wednesday after officials say they received a LPR hit on Bradford Drive near Lynn Street. The vehicle was a rental, according to police, which had been reported stolen after the driver failed to return it.
CMPD says the vehicle also matched a suspect vehicle description given in connection to at least 12 vehicle break-ins reported on March 14th.
As the CMPD Aviation Unit tracked the vehicle, officers say they noticed a gray Nissan Altima traveling in its company. The two vehicles reportedly followed one another until coming to a stop on N. Hoskins Road off of Brookshire Boulevard.
Prior to the first officer’s arrival on scene, police say the men began moving items from the white Altima into the grey one.
CMPD ground units eventually arrived on scene and took the two men into custody. CMPD says officers located crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside the white Altima, while marijuana and evidence connected to the March 14th break-ins were found inside the grey Altima.
Torrence has been charged with Possession with Intent to Sale/Distribute Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Green is charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
