CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A death investigation is underway after an inmate died at the Mecklenburg County jail Tuesday morning.
The inmate, identified as Michael Trent, 44, was pronounced dead just after 6:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
According to jail records, Trent had been arrested six times since 2016 on various charges. Officials have not said why he was currently in jail.
This is the sixth Mecklenburg County inmate death since the beginning of 2018.
