Boone Police Arrest Suspects Accused Of Ditching Drugs, Stolen Gun At Hotel
BOONE, NC — Police have charged two suspects they say tried to dispose of drugs and a stolen weapon inside a hotel Monday afternoon.
Muhammad Isa-Ismail Muhammad, 22, and De’Jon McGirt, 17, both of Durham, are each facing several drug and weapon related charges.
Police say someone reported the men driving recklessly on NC Highway 105 around 3:30pm. Officers quickly located their silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling on East King Street and followed them into the parking lot of a nearby Quality Inn.
According to reports, Muhammad and McGuirt entered the hotel and disposed of narcotics and a stolen firearm.
Those items were later recovered, investigators say, and the suspects were taken into custody.
Muhammad is charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle.
McGuirt is charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.
