CONCORD, NC — Police have charged a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend multiple times in her home Friday morning during a domestic dispute.
Sulaiman Burvick, 36, allegedly stabbed Cheryl Gaffney inside her Horizon Court NW home around 9:45am. Officers say the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute between the couple.
Gaffney had multiple stab wounds to the front and back of her neck, according to officers, and was going in and out of consciousness when they arrived.
Police say Gaffney identified Burvick at the scene and said he had taken off on foot before they arrived. Burvick was located and arrested a short time later.
Burvick is charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and is being held in the Cabarrus County Jail on no bond.
