MOORESVILLE, NC — A 14-year-old student has been suspended and could face felony arson charges after authorities say he set fire to a boys bathroom Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 1:15pm in a second story bathroom on the 400 Hallway of Lake Norman High School. The school resource officer called the fire department after smoke was reported in the hallway.
Students and staff were evacuated, according the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, and the fire was contained to a trash can inside the bathroom.
Investigators say the crime was videoed and posted to Snapchat, which allowed them to quickly identify the suspect.
Officials say the juvenile has been suspended, and the ICSO has forwarded their findings from the investigation to Juvenile Services for Felony Arson charges.
