LINCOLN COUNTY, NC — Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol say a 17-year-old girl was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision.
Around 2:45pm, troopers say Nicole Kennett’s 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt crossed into oncoming traffic on Startown Road near Eva Court and collided with a Ford F350 pickup truck.
Kennett was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck’s driver, 72-year-old Billy Lewis and two passengers, were taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, officials say, with varying levels of injuries.
Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the crash.
