HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Authorities have located the body of a boy who fell off a boat into Mountain Island Lake on Sunday, according to .
The search began sometime before 4 p.m. at Latta Plantation off Sample Road in Huntersville and crews located the boy’s body around 5:30 p.m.
The Huntersville Fire Department requested assistance with the search from the Charlotte Fire Department, Long Creek Fire Department, and Cooks Community Volunteer Fire Department.
Reports indicate the boat was anchored when the boy fell into the water and did not resurface.
The CMPD is now investigating the death.
