UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A grand jury has indicted Joshua Houser on murder charges in the death of Kilah Davenport. Β The True Bill of Indictment was returned from a Union County grand jury on Monday. Β
The grand jury found probable cause to charge Houser with second degree murder. Β He was convicted in February of felony child abuse and sentenced to 7 to 10 years in prison. Β Houser will be scheduled to return to court in the near future. Β The new charge means Houser could have time added to his current sentence.
Houser was Kilah’s step father.Β In 2012, he rammed the three-year-old’s head into a wall so severely, he caused permanent brain damage.Β Kilah died this March of pneumonia due to complications from her head injuries.Β She was 4 years old.
