Lincoln County Man Charged With Kidnapping And Assault Attempts Suicide In Jail

Officials say a man charged with assault and kidnapping tried to hang himself at the Lincoln County Detention Center last Friday.

According to authorities, on June Friday, June 28th, at about 1:30 p.m., Jeremy Samuel Paris Sartin, 34, was found, by his cell mate, hanging from a sheet Sartin had put around his neck and tied off to his bed.

Sartin’s cell mate told jail staff, who quickly responded and cut the sheet down from the bed..

Detention officers administered CPR until Lincoln County EMS arrived.  EMS personnel were able to get a pulse and transported Sartin to Atrium Health in Charlotte, where he remains in critical condition.

Sartin was arrested on June 19th, 2019 and charged with kidnapping and assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say a Lincoln County man faces assault and kidnapping charges following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend Tuesday night.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on June 18th, deputies responded to a domestic incident and found a female victim with a bruised swollen left eye, a bruised nose with blood in her nostrils, and red marks on her chin, cheek and neck.

The victim told officers that 34-year-old Jeremy Samuel Paris Sartin hit her several times after she surprised him by getting new tires on his vehicle as a Father’s Day gift. The victim said that she tried to leave but Sartin grabbed her by the throat with both hands, before leaving the residence with the couple’s child, at which point the victim called 911.

Deputies took the victim to Lincoln County Magistrate’s Office so she could get a Domestic Violence Protection Order before EMS evaluated her and took her to Atrium Health in Lincoln County for treatment of her injuries.

Sartin was arrested on June 18th and charged with first degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury, assault by strangulation, and assault on a female, without bond.
