World Cup Soccer Star Megan Rapinoe To Visit Charlotte Saturday
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) —Β Relevent Sports Group (RSG) today announced that Megan Rapinoe will lead the star-studded attendance at House of Soccer on July 20 at Romare Bearden Park, which will be a premium, high-touch experience bringing together the community, athletes, clubs, artists, and influencers to live and breathe soccer and the culture that surrounds it.
Rapinoe was awarded the FIFA Womenβs World Cup Golden Ball, the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, and the FIFA Womenβs World Cup Player of the Match in the 2019 Womenβs World Cup, after defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the final game. Rapinoe scored the first goal on a penalty kick. She was the tournamentβs top scorer, and fan favorite beloved for her signature celebration stance.
Joining the weekendβs events on Friday, July 19th, are Carolina Courage Teammates and World Cup Champions Crystal Dunn (2019) and Heather OβReilly (2015). Across the two-days, additional local star power will be on hand including Charlotte Hornets Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller, as well as UNC alum and famous freestylers Indi and Skye Cowie. Each dayβs festivities will be capped with a free concert with Grits and Biscuits and Walker Hayes.
Charlotte is the only city this summer to host a House of Soccer, and the event kicks off the historic deal between Bank of America Stadium and RSG to bring the International Champions Cup to Charlotte for the next 5 years. This marks the first long-term deal between RSG and a host city, highlighting Charlotteβs commitment to bringing major soccer events to the Queen City.

Rapinoe will be hosting a skills training session with The Creative Player Foundation in the afternoon and throwing the ceremonial coin toss ahead of the match.
